The beaches and seaside towns make this region the most popular holiday destination for the Portuguese themselves. Amongst the most spectacular beaches are those at Foz Do Arelho, Salir Do Porto, Sao Martinho do Porto. The beach at Foz is unique because it caters for small children and families with acres of soft white sand leading into shallow, calm waters of the Obidos lagoon. And yet, the western coastline leads directly into the Atlantic and is a favoured surfing spot for locals. Surfing is great at Peniche and Baleal! |

This region north of Lisbon is largely undiscovered and is only now starting to be known as a charming travel destination. The A8 motorway across the region opened the area to tourism. It is home to lovely sandy beaches and charming historic towns: Obidos, Alcobaca, Nazaré, Batalha, Fatima, Tomar etc. |

Serra do Bouro lies right behind the dunes of the Atlantic coast and near Obidos Lagoon. It is a protected agricultural area not yet disturbed by tourism. Ideal for walking or cycling. Quite near is the National Park das Serras de Aire e Candeeiros, with near Porto do Mos the most exciting caves of Portugal. |

The Obidos Lagoon is a peaceful oasis that is perfect for an evening stroll, for exploring on the new cycle path or for safe swimming from the inshore beach. It has a nice boulevard with nice terraces and restaurants. All kinds of watersports can be done at the Escola da Vela. |

Praia Del Rey is close: a 5-star golf and beach resort with championship golf course, a fantastic links course with great coastal views. New and also fantastic is the golf course at Bom Sucesso, at the other side of the lagoon.
Enjoy a family adventure discovering the secrets of one of Portugal's most scenic and storied landscapes, with vibrant beaches, bustling fishing villages, market towns and a variety of other cultural and sports attractions. This area is an excellent choice for a year round destination. |

The three holiday homes in the beautiful vineyard Quinta dos Moinhos in the North of Portugal form a perfect place to combine with a stay in our house. The Quinta dos Moinhos lies in the Minho close to cities as Braga, Porto, Guimarães and Amarante. With stunning views on the surrounding mountains the Quinta forms a very nice counterpart to our house close to the sea.
